Brasov day 9

We’re really feeling like we belong now as part of the community as we get to know the city, the language & the culture better and better.

Well, the language might be pushing it. What’s annoying is the reliance on perfect pronunciation for understanding of a word. We Australians can string a bunch of words together and everyone understands – eg “howzitgoingmate”. tonight, I asked the taxi driver to take us to Real – pronounced like Real Madrid. Its a large & very well known shopping centre. Apparently I didn’t toll the “R” enough and had to say it 3 times with slight variations to get him to understand. This has been common throughout. Comeon people – it’s not hard to extrapolate!

Anyway, today was a beautiful day in Brasov. 20degrees, sun was shining, Japanese tourists were out in force taking stupid photos… a perfect day. Deb had another great day @ the hospital with the bebes whilst I had the day off from the bears due to a conference. I went and purchased a new mattress & doona with the director and it’s going to help immensely.

Things are good! We’re planning a group tour to Cluj this weekend for an overnight stay which should be fun! For those who know Booyow (Laura), she’s originally from Cluj, so that’ll be cool to see it just for that.

Will write more soon. If you have any questions about anything to do with the people, work, country etc – put in a comment below!
