Found out more about what we’re doing…

We’ve been updated by Projects Abroad about what we’ll be doing. Deb’s working in the orphanage with babies as young as 2 months up to kids aged 18. She’s been assigned another nurse who will take her around and show her what to do. Sounds tough but very rewarding.

Meanwhile, I (Glen) will be at the bear sanctuary (which also looks after wolves I’ve just learnt) where I’ll be feeding the 40 bears, cleaning, build fences, clear scrub, plant trees etc. Sounds like a lot of hard work actually. I hope they provide moisturiser for my soft, delicate, IT hands.

The photo is a bear in the sanctuary. I’ve named him Boris. I think I’ll give him a hug when I get there… nothing bad could come of that, could it? He’d be only 400kg and those claws would retract like a cat’s. I know bears. Boris the Bear

Back in AU

Quite the straight forward flight on the way back to Sydney. We scored an emergency exit row so we had heaps more room which really made a difference.

We got chatting with one of the flight crew and asked about the drunk guy who got thrown off on our way over there. Apparently the Fijian courts weren’t open on the weekend so he was kept in lock-up then deported back to Australia. No word on what his punishment was.

The flight attendant went on to say that apparently a passenger had uploaded the footage to Youtube. I confessed to it. Had a few other attendants come up to me throughout the flight asking about it or saying that it’d done the rounds of Hawaiian Airlines. Kind of amusing really.

10.5 hour flight was long, but bearable. I’m pretty sure ex-moto gp rider, Daryl Beatie, was on our flight.

We’re currently in an airport hotel in Sydney awaiting our flight. Just keen to get home now, rather sick of flying now.
